Dref found the tree relatively easy to climb, as it was similar to those he used to climb back on Mondern when he was younger. As he got to the top, the branches spread out and he was able to sit quite comfortably to survey his surroundings. He was amazed at the panoramic scene that he was seeing and the many different sounds that he was hearing from the jungle below.
Suddenly he started hearing the same distinctive sound multiple times. He looked towards where he thought the sound was coming from, and then he spotted a dozen or so hairy creatures, some running along the ground whilst others were swinging from tree to tree. Initially he thought that maybe they were the local natives, but whoever they were, he decided he ought to formalize so that at least he looked like them. He was soon spotted and a number of the creatures swarmed up the tree to check out this stranger in their midst.
Dref was soon surrounded, initially they just sat and observed him and chatted amongst themselves every now and then in a primitive language that he didn’t quite understand at first. Gradually they started edging closer towards him, then the lead one who appeared to be the ‘boss’ came right up to Dref and sat next to him. After a few moments he started picking at the hair on Dref’s body, as if he was looking for something. It felt a bit weird, but then he thought that maybe it was a sign of friendship or an introduction, so Dref started to return the compliment, which appeared to be the right thing to do as some of the others now started to join in. it was time for Dref to plan his next move
